What is Syphilis?
It is a bacteria which is commonly transmitted through sex. It can be transmitted from pregnant mother to the baby.
What are the symptoms of Syphilis?
Small painless sores on the penis, vagina, anus or mouth
Blotchy red rash on the palms of hands or soles of the feet.
Small wart like skin growth on the genitals or anus
White patches in the mouth.
Tiredness, headaches, joint pains, fever, swollen glands in the neck, armpits, groin.
Hair loss.
Forgetfulness, Meningitis, stroke, vision loss, heart problems.
How is it diagnosed and treated?
Please consult your healthcare provider right away.
Your healthcare provider will talk to you about your symptoms, perform an exam.
Your healthcare provider will obtain Blood test and a swab from the sore.
Antibiotic injections are prescribed.
Sexual partner/partners have to be notified, tested and treated.
Avoid sexual activity during and two weeks after treatment.
